Sunday May 31st Another incredibly hot day - perfect weather for a.....barbecue!
Saturday May 30th Woke up at five o'clock in the morning to catch the six o'clock bus to London. After arriving, still tired and stiff from the journey, my brother and I had some breakfast at Victoria Station before starting our journey along the London Underground. As it was still fairly early the crowds weren't too big so the journey was fairly comfortable. After catching three different tube trains we arrived at Wembley Park Station and had our first view of Wembley Way and the stadium itself along with it's huge arch.
The first job, after taking plenty of photgraphs, was to get our tickets. We had to pick them up from the National Express bus parked on Wembley Way. The first gentleman who we spoke to looked and looked but couldn't find our tickets. Panic began to set in! Fortunately, the man who my brother spoke to on the phone arrived and found our tickets at the first attempt. Off to the stadium!
The stadium itself is massive; it took quite some time to walk around! After stopping to have a photgraph taken with former Everton and Wales player Gary Speed, the two of us went back on to Wembley Way to soak up the fantastic atmosphere (it was a sea of blue), and more importantly, to get some bottles of water - boy it was hot!!!
The time had arrived to go inside and find our seats, and what seats they were! After a bite to eat we settled down for the game. Twenty five seconds in, Everton scored, and I found myself jumping up and down madly, then being picked up from behind by an Everton fan I've never met before, and more than likely will never meet again, but we both shared a moment of joy at watching that goal scored by Saha. Sadly, that was the last time I celebrated as Chelsea went on to win 2-1. We had enough time to take a look around and realise that we were sat about fifteen rows in front of the box whiich housed the ITV coverage of the game.
We stayed to watch the presenttion of the losers medals and the final moment of John Terry lifting up the FA Cup before heading out into the crowds for the battle to get back on the underground. About and hour and a half later and we arrived back where we started, London Victoria Station where we managed to change our tickets for a 9:30 PM bus back to Cardiff to an earlier 7:30 PM. This got us back into Cardiff at 10:30 PM.
A very long, hot, tiring day, but a fantastic one too - despite the result!
